Washington Stealth forward Rhys Duch was named the National Lacrosse League’s Overall Player of the Week for Week #16 of the 2010 NLL Season. Duch tallied nine points (six goals, three assists) in a crucial 14-9 victory over the Rochester Knighthawks. With the win, the Stealth clinched the number one overall seed - and home floor advantage - throughout the 2010 NLL Playoffs. Duch was also named Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
Buffalo Bandits goaltender Mike Thompson was named Defensive Player of the Week. The Bandits faced a must-win contest against the Boston Blazers in order to make the playoffs, and Thompson was crucial in the team’s playoff-clinching 13-10 victory. The Buffalo goalie faced 56 shots on goal and ended the game with 46 saves.
The Transition Player of the Week was Jordan Hall of the Orlando Titans. The Titans played back-to-back road games this past weekend, visiting Philadelphia on Friday and Minnesota on Saturday. Against Philadelphia, he posted two assists and five loose balls in a convincing 11-5 win over the Wings. On Saturday against Minnesota, Hall netted one goal to go along with eight assists and four loose balls in a 12-11 overtime win. Hall finished the weekend with 11 points as the Titans won both contests to finish the regular season 11-5.
Buffalo Bandits forward Kyle Clancy was named Rookie of the Week. Clancy scored one goal and one assist in Buffalo’s must-win contest against Boston. He also added two loose balls.
The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league’s eleven member clubs.
