On the morning of the 2014 Buffalo Bandits season opener, head coach Troy Cordingley made one thing certain: the team must forget about last season and focus on jumping out to a quick start.

“It’s a pride thing. I think everybody has had a good long look in the mirror. We will compete,” Cordingley said. “When you’re winning, it’s going to build confidence. We do want to get off to a quick start.”

The opening faceoff against the Philadelphia Wings is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at First Niagara Center.

Cordingley announced that Anthony Cosmo will start in goal tonight. Cosmo relishes the opportunity to bounce back from last season.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I can’t wait to get a [win] for the [Bandits fans].”

Cordingley also announced that forwards Chad Culp and Aaron Wilson will serve as the team’s scratches tonight.

“We have a lot of depth,” he said. “Making the decisions for scratches are very difficult.”
