MAKING THEM COUNT
Although John Tavares is currently second on the Bandits roster in scoring and third in goals, he has made sure his points have been valuable this season. Tavares has scored two game winning goals this season, including last week at Minnesota. He also recorded the primary assist on Mark Steenhuis' game winner against Philadelphia.
A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
Tomorrow night's game is the first ever meeting between the Buffalo Bandits and Edmonton Rush. Edmonton is the only current NLL franchise the Bandits have never faced.
PUTTING UP A WALL
For the third-straight week a Buffalo Bandits goaltender was named Defensive Player of the Week by the NLL. Mike Thompson's 58-save performance last week against Minnesota earned him the honor this week after Ken Montour took the award in back-to-back weeks after working his way to the top of the NLL goaltending leaders. Montor leads the league with a 6.00 GAA and .879 save percentage. Thompson is currently third with an .818 save percentage and is eighth with a 10.00 GAA.
HOW THE WEST WAS WON
Tonight is Buffalo's second of four games against Western Division opponents this season. The Bandits are 1-0 against the West this season after a 10-9 victory over Minnesota last week. The Bandits went 5-0 against the West in 2008 and were 1-1 against the newest member of the division, Minnesota.
The Bandits defense has not been shy about joining the rush this season. Buffalo's backend has contributed 16 points (4+12) this year. Clay Hill is tied for eighth on the team with eight points (1+7) on the season. Billy Dee Smith is one of 10 Bandits with two or more goals this season.
